The Singer of the heart 💚

          His name is 'Wannakuwaththa Waduge Don Albert Perera'.But he is known as 'Pandith W.D Amaradewa.He was born on December 5,1927 in Moratuwa.His father was Mr.Don Ginoris perera.His mother was Megee Weslina Mendis.Mr.Amaradewa was also the youngest in a family of six children.Mr.Amaradewa received his primary education at sri Saddharmodaya Mixed School.He then completed his secondary education at sri sumangala vidyalaya,Pnadura.Thereafter he entered Kaluthara Vidyalaya and Balapitiya Siddhartha Vidyalaya and completed his education.As a child,Amaradewa received his musical inspiration from his father.He then went on to futher his music education at the Bhathkande Faculty of Music in Luknow,India.There he successfully complented his education and returned to Sri Lanka to work with the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.He then went on to make a significant contribution to the Sri Lankan film industry as well as to Sri Lankan folk music.




          During that period he was given the nickname "Amaradewa" by Prof.Ediriweera Sarathchandra.The song "Sasara wasana thuru",the song "Pera dinayaka ma",the song "Rathnadeepa janma bhoomi",the song "Nivahal sithuwili sithana",the song "Patu adhas" are some of the songs he sang.In addition to singing,he also excelled at playing the violin.Amaradewa was the lead vviolinist for the film 'Asoka Mala',wich was directed by Mohommad Gauss.It was great opportunity to show Amaradewa's playing ability.Amaradewa has won numerous awards,including the Philippine Ramon Magsay-say Award (2001),the Indian Padma sri Award and the Sri Lankan President's Art Award (1986),as well as the patriotic Award (1998).He was instrumental in composing the melody for the Maldivian National Anthem in 1972 at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth ll of the United Kingdom.Amaradewa,who becam so famous all over the world,passed away on November 3,2016 due to a sudden illness that brought tears to the eyes of the entire world.😪😥😢😓😭
